Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
About Preserved Moss Art
What is preserved moss?
Preserved moss is real moss that has been carefully treated with a natural preservation process to maintain its softness, color, and texture. It is no longer living, which means it does not grow and requires no water or sunlight.
Is the moss real?
Yes. All Dragon Zen Moss pieces are made with 100% real preserved moss and natural elements such as dried ferns, mushrooms, flowers, bark, and lichen.
Does preserved moss last?
Yes. With proper indoor care, preserved moss art can last many years while maintaining its natural appearance.

Care & Maintenance
Does moss art need water?
No. Do not water preserved moss. Water can damage the preservation and cause discoloration or mold.
Does it need sunlight?
No sunlight is required. In fact, direct sunlight may cause fading over time. Indirect indoor light is ideal.
Can I touch the moss?
Occasional gentle touching is fine, but frequent handling can cause shedding or compression. Preserved moss is best enjoyed visually.
What humidity level is best?
Preserved moss prefers normal indoor humidity levels (about **40–60%**). Avoid placing pieces near humidifiers, bathrooms, or kitchens with high moisture.
Can I hang moss art outdoors?
No. Dragon Zen Moss pieces are designed for indoor use only. Outdoor exposure to moisture, heat, and sunlight may damage the materials over time.

Placement & Display
Where should I hang my moss art?
Moss art looks best in living rooms, bedrooms, offices, entryways, meditation spaces, and other low-humidity indoor areas.
Can moss art be hung near HVAC vents?
It’s best to avoid direct airflow from vents, heaters, or air conditioners, as constant air movement can dry or loosen materials over time.
Is moss art safe for homes with pets or children?
While preserved moss is non-toxic, pieces are decorative and not toys. We recommend hanging artwork out of reach of pets and young children.

Materials & Sourcing
Where do you source your materials?
Materials are a mix of responsibly sourced preserved botanicals and natural elements gathered on hikes or purchased from trusted, locally focused preservationists who value sustainability.
Is your art eco-friendly?
Preserved moss art is considered a low-maintenance, sustainable decor option because it requires no water, soil, fertilizers, or ongoing energy to maintain.

Ordering & Care Concerns
Will my moss shed over time?
Some minimal shedding is normal, especially right after shipping. This will stabilize once the piece is hung and left undisturbed.
What should I do if my moss feels dry?
Preserved moss may feel slightly dry in very low-humidity environments. This does not mean it needs water. If concerned, gently mist the air around the piece—not the moss itself.
How do I clean moss art?
Use a soft duster or compressed air on a low setting to remove dust. Do not vacuum, wipe with cloths, or use cleaning products.
